ABOUT THIS MODALITY
Mindfulness meditation allows practice being present to our current experience, non-judgementally, with compassion.
To be mindful we are simply present. We can be mindful with anything but “especially to aspects of life that we take most for granted or ignore”. By being mindful we are paying attention it is rather than what we want them to be. Mindfulness allows us to become more at peace with our emotions. Instead of struggling, focusing on the past or the future we can stay present, not allowing out our mind to ruminate on distractions or thoughts that can then begin to spiral out of control. It can also let us become present in our bodies, noticing when we become out of balance, sick, stressed or unhealthy.
Mindfulness has physical benefits such as less stress and has contributed to weight loss and associated diseases. In addition to the physical benefits, more internal benefits include:
A word of caution when seeing the benefits of mindfulness, it doesn’t always happen and striving for a goal is actually the opposite of mindfulness as we will practice.
